Infrared
spectroscopy provides a powerful tool to investigate the structure, function
and dynamics of biomolecules. An overview will be given about the basic
principles and the information which can be obtained from vibrational spectra. Different
experimental techniques (FTIR, ATR, IR lasers) and approaches (difference
techinques, perturbation techniques), the analysis of the spectrum and band
assignment strategies will be described and highlighted with examples.
