Plasmonic and Photonic Nanomaterials for Sensing and Renewable Energy

We use self-assembled films of monodisperse nano-to-micron scale polystyrene spheres to prepare large area plasmonic or photonic structures for applications in sensing and solar energy. By tuning the dimensions of the spheres and their spacing, and by varying materials between metals, semiconductors and insulators, we can prepare plasmonic surfaces, photonic cystals or transparent metal films.
