Reader Project: Interferences of Gender and Physics

This Reader brings together heretofore dispersed scholarship on gender and the physical sciences. The volume presents both classic and recent contributions to this field of study that comprise historical, social and epistemological investigations. At the same time the Reader serves as an in-depth introduction to the genealogies and challenging theoretical and methodological approaches that inform scholarship in feminist science studies in which the physical sciences take centre stage. While physics remains a foundational subject in science and engineering education and in the history, philosophy and sociology of science, the physical sciences are also crucial for tackling enormous global challenges such as climate change or waste disposal and have received renewed attention in the context of the material turn.
