PhD position in Theoretical Molecular Biophysics

Research topic:

Lipid/protein interactions, PhD position within the Priority Programme 1926 "Next generation Optogenetics: Tool development and application".

The project aims to develop computer models of ion channels embedded in lipid membranes with photo-switchable lipids. Theoretical methods planned include classical molecular dynamics simulations and quantum mechanics.

Eligibility requirements: Master degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline that qualifies the candidate for doctoral studies at the Freie Universität. Excellent communication skills in English and programming skills are an important advantage. Previous experience with theoretical biophysics is an advantage.

The position is for three years, salary scale E13 65%.
