Positions for PhD candidates

Within the Collaborative Research Center, funding for support of PhD candidates is available.  We are looking for excellent graduate students from physics or chemistry.  Scholarships (EUR 1000 per month) for working as a research assistant in one of the participating subprojects of the Collaborative Research Center can be awarded for up to one year duration, with the option of continuing a PhD project on a regular salary-based PhD student's position after successful evaluation.

Necessary requirements to apply are:
  • a University degree in physics or chemistry on the level of master of science or equivalent;
  • a master thesis;
  • very good command of English language.

Applications for scholarships must include:
  • a complete CV, from which the place and date of the master degree as well as the name of the master thesis supervisor must be accessible;
  • an abstract (max. 1 page) of the master thesis; degree and course transcripts, where available;
  • a ranking list of subprojects of the Collaborative Research Center you would like to work with, and a short motivation of your selection;
  • names and full addresses (postal and e-mail, tel, fax) of two or three references, preferably including the Master thesis supervisor.
