Short intense infrared (IR) laser pulses can induce large amplitude vibrational motion in molecules. In this seminar, we will focus on orientational/spatial effects associated with this excitation and e.g., show how it can be used in order to control the spatial distribution of the fragments in photodissociation, when a ultraviolet (UV) laser pulse is fired at an appropriate time delay.
