After my studies in physics at the Technical University Munich, I received my PhD in Biophysics from the University of Ulster, UK, in 2012, followed by a postdoctoral research position at Leiden University, NL. Since November 2015, I am an FU Berlin POINT fellow within the focus area Nanoscale and a postdoctoral researcher in the Experimental Molecular Biophysics group.

My research focuses on the interaction mechanisms between biology and radiation, in particular studying the photostability of membranes and membrane molecules on the nanoscale via superresolution near-field optical microscopy and infrared spectroscopy.

I am currently involved in several projects on the International Space Station and I am collaborating with colleagues from the German Aerospace Center, the European Space Agency and NASA in order to investigate the effect of solar and cosmic radiation on organic molecules and potential biomarkers.
