Scientific Events in Berlin

Berlin Physics Colloquium

We co-organise Berlin Physics Colloquium together with Physical Society of Berlin and other universities of Berlin and Potsdam.

Awards & Ceremonial Colloquia

Our scientists and graduates are often invited as award winners and speakers to a variety of festive occasions. We cordially invite you to celebrate the scientific achievements of our physicists and to learn more from their talks about the research projects that are running in Berlin, Germany and worldwide.

Berlin Physics Colloquium: Prof. Dr. Mischa Bonn "A Molecular View of the Water Interface"

Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Department of Molecular Spectroscopy Water surfaces and interfaces are ubiquitous, not just in nature, but also in many technological applications. Water is a rather unique liquid, owing to its strong intermolecular interactions: strong hydrogen bonds hold water molecules together. At the surface of water, the water hydrogen-bonded network is abruptly interrupted, conferring distinct properties on the interface, compared to bulk.
