Not only physics students, researchers, and staff from the department participated, but some also brought along family members and friends to join them on the course.

The runners from the Department of Physics performed exceptionally: In 30-degree heat and under a blazing sun, 37 men and women completed the 10-kilometer distance on the Dahlem campus. Other PhysRunners completed the 5- and 7.5-kilometer courses, with many of them achieving personal bests.

PhysRunners was recognized as the largest in-house team and received a prize of 800 euros. They celebrated this athletic success in style at the subsequent 2024 summer party.

Looking Back: Second Largest Team at the Campus Run 2023

In 2023, physicists were already the second-largest team at Freie Universität Berlin and managed to increase their athletic performance and motivation within a year.

Barbecues for More 'Running Drive'

The prize money is traditionally used for barbecues in the department, which further strengthen the team spirit of the PhysRunners and spark a true "running drive" in many participants.
