Prof. Dr. Roland Netz receives the Ostwald Prize 2024
Roland Netz received the Ostwald Prize 2024 of the German Colloid Society for his theoretical description of soft matter and biological systems, of interfaces and for improving the understanding of the properties of ions and water.
News from Oct 16, 2024
The Ostwald Prize was awarded to Roland Netz at the general meeting of the Colloid Society October 2024 in Dresden.
The Ostwald prize, named after Wolfgang Ostwald, represents the highest award of the German Colloid Society, the worldwide oldest society in the field of colloidal science, and honors the scientific life achievements in pure and applied colloidal science.
About Research Group Netz
The research group of Prof. Dr. Roland Netz investigates the dynamics and structure of biological and liquid matter, with wide applications to medical, biological and nano sciences. The group uses a wide arsenal of theoretical methods, ranging from ab initio and classical force-field based molecular dynamics simulations over coarse-grained simulations to analytic calculus employing scaling arguments, field-theoretic and stochastic methods. Prof. Dr. Roland Netz and his team are particularly interested in problems that can only be tackled by a combination of simulations and analytic approaches.
