For 15 years, the Deutschlandstipendium has supported students from all disciplines – including physics. In the summer semester 2026, three bachelor’s, three master’s, and four teacher-training physics students will receive financial support of 300 euros per month.

Deutschlandstipendium – 15 Years of Stipend at Freie Universität Berlin

Since 2011, the Deutschlandstipendium has supported talented and committed students at Freie Universität Berlin with 300 euros per month – half funded by the German federal government and half by private donations. These private contributions come from a variety of foundations, associations, and companies, as well as individual donors dedicated to supporting students.

66 Physics Stipends in 15 Years

Over the past 15 years, 66 physics stipends with a total value of 237,600 euros have been awarded to physics students at Freie Universität Berlin. Half of this amount – 118,800 euros – comes from eleven private donors who are enthusiastic about the natural sciences or work in physics or other natural sciences, as well as from institutions connected to these fields.

Annual Ceremony Brings Students and Sponsors Together

At the Deutschlandstipendium award ceremony on February 12, 2026, scholarship recipients met their sponsors at the Henry Ford Building to exchange ideas and build networks.

At the event, Dr. med. Cornelia Klein-Epphardt met physics student Martina Baier. Beyond the financial support, the sponsor and the scholarship holder remain in regular contact, also discussing career plans and perspectives after graduation.
