We announce the launch of an arXiv overlay journal for quant-ph. Quantum will be a free and open access publishing option, providing high visibility for quality research on quantum science. Quantum is an effort by researchers and for researchers to make science more open and publishing more transparent and efficient. The executive board consists of Lídia del Rio, Christian Gogolin, and Marcus Huber. The steering board is composed of Anne Broadbent, Harry Buhrman, Jens Eisert, Debbie Leung, Anna Sanpera, Reinhard Werner, Birgitta Whaley, and Andreas Winter.
