Spin-orbit coupling in bend nanotubes: a method for electrical spin manipulation

In this talk I address spin-orbit coupling in carbon nanotubes. First I review the recent experimental achievements of the observation of spin-orbit coupling and then discuss the origin of coupling, which is a combination of intra-atomic spin-orbit coupling and curvature effects. Finally, I discuss a way to address the spin in a nanotube quantum dot in a bend tube geometry.
