We are interested in the quantum control of atoms, molecules and condensed matter systems with an AMO-like structure. Our main areas for applying quantum control are light-induced chemical reactions and quantum information processing. We are using both coherent control concepts and optimal control theory, applying them to isolated as well as open quantum systems. Development of optimal control methods represents a major part of our work, with a current emphasis on control methods for open quantum systems. We are enjoying active collaborations with research groups from all over Europe (Denmark, France, Poland, Spain), Israel and the US.
We assign bachelor and master theses in the fields of theoretical atomic, molecular and optical physics, quantum control and quantum information processing. If you are interested, please send an email to Prof. Koch (christiane.koch[at]fu-berlin.de) or Dr. Reich (danreich[at]zedat.fu-berlin.de).
