Research Group Müller
Emmy Noether Junior Research Group: Interdisciplinary Nanophotonics
Dr. Niclas Sven Müller
We explore light-matter coupling phenomena in nanoscale materials. Our research focuses on experimental nanophotonics, bridging phenomena in the typically separate mid-infrared and visible spectral ranges. Currently, we are establishing a laboratory that will employ nonlinear optical microscopy techniques to investigate structure-property relationships in quantum materials with nanoscale spatial resolution.
Our goal is to advance the understanding of interfaces in two-dimensional van der Waals materials, activate new coupling channels to convert light between spectral ranges, and engineer materials through hybrid light-matter states. We closely collaborate with research groups at the department and the neighboring Fritz Haber Institute.
If you’re interested in joining, feel free to get in touch—there are open positions for PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s projects and opportunities for postdoctoral research.
