Students' union
The "Fachschaftsinitiative" (FSI) is an open group of students that advocates students' concerns towards the department's dean and professors. We have two seats in the departemental council (called "Fachbereichsrat") and we represent the students in several committees such as search committees for open professorships. We organise a welcoming event for freshmen in the first week of the winter term and are always available for questions concerning student life and the course programs.During the semester, we usually meet every week (the date is announced via e-mail) to discuss departement related topics.
Duties of the FSI:
- To coordinate the council and committee work of the student representatives
- To look after the CaféXX (the students' common room with a coffee machine)
- To communicate with the head of the department on behalf of the students
- To host the data base for old examination protocols
- To organise a welcome week for freshmen, including a get-together week-end trip
- To provide information about the study and examination regulations
- To stay in contact with other departments/universities, i.e. to participate in the "Zusammenkunft aller Physikfachschaften" (ZaPF), the council for all German-speaking Physics student initiatives
- To answer questions about the course in general and to help students solve their problems.
