Pathways in Physics: Dr. Lea Bogner - Physicist as technology transfer advisor (and mom)
Lea Bogner studied chemistry, earned a PhD in physics at the Freie Universität and the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. She then joined Peppermint VenturePartners, a healthcare-focused venture capital company, and worked as a project manager and investment analyst.
Today, she works for PVP Advisors, a management consultancy for knowledge-intensive technology start-ups that emerged from Peppermint VenturePartners, at the interface between science and application in the external management of the Helmholtz Validation Fund.
Lea Bogner will talk about her pathway as a student and doctoral student with a child. She will also explain what the external validation fund management does.
Step1: Away from home, voluntary social year in Israel
Step2: Move to Berlin and study Jewish and Arabic studies
Step 3: Goldsmithing and first child
Step 4: Study of chemistry
Step 5: Doctorate at the FB Physics of the FU and at the FHI
My advice to future physicists (and parents)In some situations, you don't have to and can't do everything on your own. It is important to be able to seek and accept help and support.

About "Pathways in Physics"
In the online talk series for students of physics, different speakers will talk about their own pathway in physics: why they became physicists, how they recognized what their interests in physics were and how they went about getting positions in research and industry. We invite speakers from the Department of Physics, different research institutions as well as from various industries.
