The authors report asymmetric spectral line shapes in elastic collisions of helium atoms and deuterium molecules. The asymmetries occur in angle-resolved cross sections and cause a shift of the resonance peak as function of the scattering angle. Asymmetric line shapes are well known in Feshbach resonances and indicate an interference between resonant and continuum contributions. The present work demonstrates how asymmetric line shapes can occur in a shape resonance from the interference of different partial waves.
