PhD student Fernando Gago Encinas (Research Group Koch) and Dr. Sabrina Patsch (Tagesspiegel science editor and former PhD student in Koch's group) explain in simple terms for all audiences some common concepts in quantum physics that have appeared in movies and TV.

Science fiction is full of... well, fiction. But sometimes real science finds its way into movies and shows!

Quantum physics, of course, is no exception, appearing in several popular titles. You may have even learned about physics while enjoying a bucket of popcorn! But what are the factual truths hidden in the narrative licenses? And most importantly, why are these concepts not only cool, but also relevant?

In this talk, we will explore, in simple terms for all audiences, some common concepts in quantum physics that have appeared in movies and TV. We will also link them to current research in quantum sciences, which are more important today than ever. But don’t worry, you don’t have to be a mad scientist to enjoy this talk. As long as you like movies and hearing facts about science, you will have a great time!
