Talks & Events at the Department of Physics
Research Group Pitches – Physicists present their scientific work and teams
Different research groups will present their research and teams in short 4-minute online talks. Within two hours, students can gain a quick overview of the range of topics in our department and think about possible questions for bachelor's and master's theses.
Talk "Inside Nature Physics" by David Abergel (Editor, Nature Physics)
Location: Lecture hall B Arnimallee 14 14195 Berlin
Meet Us - Woman Network Meeting
People who are passionate about promoting diversity in physics meet each month to network and to talk about current topics. Equality and science, career planning and family issues – the broad range of topics is determined by the participants themselves. In a relaxed atmosphere, physicists develop ideas for more progress in the department.
Location: Room 1.1.16 Arnimallee 14
Info Evening for Physics Students - Abroad and Back Again
We will inform Physics' students about exchange programs and multiple possibilities to go abroad for studies or an internship.
Location: Hörsaal A / Raum 1.3.14
Klung Wilhelmy Science Award in Physics 2019 for Prof. Dr. Titus Neupert + Lecture "Insulators that conduct electricity perfectly"
This year's Klung Wilhelmy Science Award in Physics honors Prof. Dr. Titus Neupert (University of Zurich) for his contributions to the theoretical prediction of novel "topological" phases of matter, in particular fractional Chern insulators and higher-order topological insulators. At the award ceremony, Prof. Dr. Titus Neupert will give a lecture on "Insulators that conduct electricity perfectly".
Location: Henry-Ford-Bau Freie Universität Berlin Garystr. 35 14195 Berlin
19th Einstein Lecture - Prof. Dr. Catherine Heymans: Seeing the Invisible - The Dark Side of the Universe
The famous astrophysicist Professor Catherine Heymans from the University of Edinburgh will hold the 19th Einstein Lecture Dahlem at Freie Universität Berlin. In her talk on the “The Dark Side of the Universe,” she will share with guests scientific insights into the dark matter, that is, the matter that cannot be seen as dust, gas, or stars.
Location: Henry-Ford-Bau Freie Universität Berlin Garystr. 35 14195 Berlin
