Open Lecture Halls "Diversity Generates Science": Prof. Dr. Jarita Holbrook "Intersectional Issues of Astrophysicists"

Prof. Dr. Jarita Holbrook, Science, Technology & Innovation Studies, The University of Edinburgh (UK) ASTROMOVES is an EU MSCA funded project focused through an intersectional lens on the career decision-making of astrophysics and related scientists. Over 40 interviews were completed with half of them being available to use in the forthcoming documentary films. Included in the ASTROMOVES interviews are Queer, disabled, underrepresented and those that have left the field. As astrophysics continues to try to become more diverse and more inclusive, the interviews with intersectional astrophysicists provide insights into supportive and unsupportive factors related to their retention. This presentation will contain film clips from the interviews to illustrate points.
