Professor Dr. Jan Behrends honored with Bloch Lecture (GDCh)
The German Chemical Society (GDCh) awarded Prof. Dr. Jan Behrends the 2024 Felix Bloch Lecture for his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of magnetic resonance over the past five years.
News from Sep 20, 2024
The scientist received the award on September 9, 2024, at the 45th FGMR Annual Discussion Meeting in Rostock. He then delivered the first lecture of his Felix Bloch Lecture series, titled "Spins at Work in Energy Conversion and Storage Devices,"to the invited audience
About Prof. Dr. Jan Behrends
Professor Dr. Jan Behrends is researching charge transport in organic solar cells as well as organic radical batteries made from organic semiconductors. Using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, his junior research group aims to deepen the understanding of fundamental processes in materials and devices for energy conversion and energy storage on a microscopic level.
Behrends’ lab is part of the Berlin Joint EPR Lab (BeJEL), founded in early 2013, and is affiliated with both the Department of Physics at Freie Universität Berlin and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie.
About the Felix Bloch Lecture
Since 2015, the Magnetic Resonance Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) has awarded the Felix Bloch Lecture annually, honoring the outstanding achievements of early-career scientists in the field of magnetic resonance over the past five years. The award includes a certificate of honor and a prize of 1000 euros. The awardee usually gives four lectures, the first of which is presented immediately following the award ceremony during the FGMR Annual Discussion Meeting.
