The scratch filesystem of the sheldon head node was temporarily unavailable today and the node had to be rebooted.

The login server has been reinstalled
We have reinstalled our central SSH login host login.physik.fu-berlin.de, which means that the corresponding SSH host keys have changed and SSH, SCP and SFTP clients will show a warning about this. Find the hashes for the new host keys in this news item.

box.fu maintenance
The box.fu service (provided to FUB by TUB) will be offline for maintenance starting Friday 19.4. at 3 p.m. until the next day, but it might be unavailable until Sunday.

A New Wave of Phishing
A new wave of phishing mails has started, seemingly from genuine FU addresses. Please be advised that you will not receive unsolicited support requests from and we will not ask you for your login credentials. Do not trust links in emails.

Change of Mount Options
On Thursday 6.4. we will change the mount options of the /net/dataXY directories, which are meant for storage of scientific data, to include noexec to disallow executing binaries stored there.

No FollowMe printing on Friday 31. March
The FollowMe printers will be unavailable this Friday 31. March from 13:00-18:00 due to a software upgrade of the central university printer server. The existing Physics department printers will not be affected.

Phishing
There's a large wave of phishing mails going around this morning claiming to be from ZEDAT support. Neither ZEDAT nor we will ever write you mails asking you for passwords or any other credentials, since in the case of abuse we lock accounts and void credentials, making such questions unnecessary. Any communication from ZEDAT will always point to domains below fu-berlin.de . If you receive suspicious emails, please let us know about it at zedv@physik.fu-berlin.de .
